Losing a parent as a child is one of the most difficult things for a child. It is a totally different level of pain and grief than they have ever experienced. They desperately want to speak to their mom or dad again and, depending on their age, may not even fully understand the finality of death.

Children who lose a parent are at high risk for depression, anxiety and thoughts of suicide. They may not talk openly about their feelings making it difficult to know how well they are coping. We specialize in intense grief during the childhood years and we are able to evaluate and monitor their functioning as they go through the grieving process. We will work with you as the other parent or caretaker to know what to do to help your child get through this. Through empirically proven treatments such as Mindfulness, Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Play Therapy your child will feel better and get some relief and you will know that you are doing everything possible to help them during this difficult time.
