Losing a parent as a teenager is one of the most difficult things a teen can go through. It is a totally different level of pain and grief than they have ever experienced. They desperately want to speak to their mom or dad again or hold them one more time and they can’t. Your teen may have regrets for things they said or didn’t say, did or didn’t do.

Teens who lose a parent are at high risk for depression, anxiety and thoughts of suicide. They may not talk openly about their feelings making it difficult to know how well they are coping. We specialize in intense grief during the adolescent years and we are able to evaluate and monitor their functioning as they go through the grieving process. Through empirically proven treatments such as Mindfulness, Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Interpersonal Therapy your teen will feel better and get some relief.
